Graduated from Cinematography Department of the University of Silesia in Katowice. His debut is
the award-winning and famous film “Ki” by Leszek Dawid (2011), presented at the Venice Film
Festival. Film received numerous awards: a nomination to the Main Prize in the Polish Film
Competition and in the Cinematographers’ Debut Competition in Camerimage in 2011. Other
awards for “Ki” include the nomination to Andrzej Munk Award and Golden Duck awarded by
readers of the Film magazine.
In 2010, together with Paweł Ferdek, he directed “Scrap Odyssey”, an epic documentary film
realized in Kyrgyzstan and presented at many festivals around the world.
Director of photography for many feature films, among others: Filip Bajon’s “Panie Dulskie”, “The
Butler” (Silver Lions at Gdynia Film Festival, nomination to the main prize in the Polish Film
Competition at the Camerimage 2018 Festival and for the PSC award), “Performer” directed by
Łukasz Ronduda and Maciej Sobieszczański (awarded with the Think statuette: Film Award at the
Berlinale in 2015), Łukasz Ronduda’s “Heart of Love” (premiere at the Berlinale 2018, nomination
for the Grand Prix of the New Horizons Festival, Jantar award for cinematography at the Youth and
Film – Debut Film Festival in Koszalin). Cinematographer for the British-French production
(SkyAtlantic Uk, Canal+ Fr) criminal mini series “The Tunnel” (2013) directed by Udayana Prasada
and with a nomination for the Drama Series Emmy Awards.
He is a co-director (together with Łukasz Ronduda) and cinematographer for the feature film “All
Our Fears” (2021). The film was enthusiastically received by critics and audiences alike, as proven
by numerous awards, including the Main Prize at the Gdynia Film Festival, the Best
Cinematography Award, the Journalists’ Award, the Federation of Polish Film Clubs’ Don Quixote
Award, the Young Jury Award and the Golden Tape Award (Polish Section of FIPRESCI). Łukasz
Gutt was awarded Discovery of the Year at the Polish Film Awards gala.
He was the cinematographer for 3 episodes of the series “Becoming Elizabeth” created and written
by award-winning playwright and TV writer Anya Reiss. The series premiered in June 2022. He
was also the cinematographer on Leszek David’s “Broad Peak,” which premiered on Netflix in the
fall of 2022. He has been nominated fot best cinematography in “Broadpeak” to Polish Film
Awards. The film is based on true events, a dramatic story of Maciej Berbeka – a legendary Polish
Himalayan climber who wanted to reach the summit of one of the world’s most dangerous
mountains.The film premiered on Netflix in the fall of 2022. Sebastian Butny’s feature film “Święty”
with his cinematography, a Polish- Hungarian co-production, premiered in theaters in March 2023
and gained enthusiastic reviews. Also, his latest work “Różyczka 2” by Jan Kidawa-Błoński will premiere in theaters in September 2023.
He’s also a visual artist presenting his artistic works (for example, the “Minstrel Show”, realized
together with Anna Niesterowicz) in the best galleries and museums in Poland and in the world.
