REGULATIONS OF FILM SPRING OPEN WORKSHOP 2024

I. Film Spring Open Workshop for filmmakers.

  1. Film Spring Open Workshop (herein referred to as FSO) is organized by Film Spring Open Foundation (herein referred to as „Organizer”).
  2. For 19 years already the Film Spring Open Workshop (“FSO”) has provided interdisciplinary and interactive workshops focused on the future of the audiovisual industry. In times of dynamic technological changes the aim is to provide the necessary continuous training and improve acquired artistic and technical skills among students and graduates of film schools as well as professionals and emerging talented filmmakers.
  3. Film Spring Open Workshop is open to all individuals that represent one of the professions needed in film production (i.e. producers, directors, cinematographers, set designers, script writers, actors, composers, sound artists, editors, VFX, SFX, as well as programmers and authors of new AV forms).
  4. Film Spring Open Workshop program includes:
  1. During Film Spring Open Workshop, participants will have the possibility to learn theory and consult their future projects.
  2.  The registration fee will be returned to those persons who resign from the participation in the Film Spring Open Workshop by informing the organizers in writing no later than 2 weeks before the day of the start of Film Spring Open Workshop. The Foundation will deduce 10% of administrative fees from the returned fee.

II. Participants

1. The participation in FSO is paid 400PLN. Payment is made through the iMoje online service after the confirmation sent by the Organisers by e-mail. The information about acceptance of application will be sent to the e-mail address provided in the application.
2. Film Spring Open Workshop is planned for approximately 300 adult participants related to the film industry (students and graduates of film and theatre schools and film professionals).
3. The main requirement for participation in FSO is to register online through the link
4. The registration is open for both individual filmmakers and dedicated groups. Organised groups are requested to send additional information by e-mail to: biuro@filmspringopen.eu
5. Organiser will confirm the registration within 7 days after the closure of the registration.
6.Accommodation can be booked by contacting the participants with the Hotel Forest in Krakow. Only participants who pay the registration fee will be able to book accommodation.
7. Final confirmation is made after the payment is made.
8. The registration fee will be returned to those persons who resign from the participation in the Film Spring Open Workshop by informing the organizers in writing no later than 2 weeks before the day of the start of FSO. The Foundation will deduce 10% of administrative fees from the returned fee.

III. Film Spring Open Workshop

  1. FSO will take place between 15-24 of October 2024 on the Internet at www.filmspringopen.eu and through links to individual events.
  2. FSO schedule (detailed program) will be available on the website filmspringopen.eu just before the start of the FSO.

Rights and Obligations of Participants and Organizers

  1. The Organizers will provide substantive support to the Participants of the Film Spring Open Workshop who qualify for the work of dedicated groups.

  2. The Organizer does not cover the costs of meals and accommodation for the Participants of the Film Spring Open Workshop.

  3. The Organizer is not responsible for the destruction of the property of the Participants of the Film Spring Open Workshop, nor for the loss of valuable items during the Workshop.

  4. The Organizer has the right to change the date of the Film Spring Open Workshop as well as the program, of which the Participants will be informed on the portal’s website.

  5. Participants undertake to comply with state guidelines regarding the epidemic situation in the country in which they are staying and will carry out projects.

  6. The Organizer reserves the right to make changes to the program as well as to the mode of implementation of the workshops resulting from the epidemic situation applicable at that time.

  7. Participants are responsible for damages caused by their negligence.

  8. The Organizer does not insure Participants taking part in the Film Spring Open Workshop and does not bear any responsibility in this respect.

  9. The Organizer does not allow filming of scenes that are illegal or dangerous for the Participants or third parties.

  10. Participants undertake to maintain safety on the film set. In this respect, the Organizer has the right to intervene in activities dangerous to the health of the Participants, in particular to forbid or order the Participants to cease such activities.

  11. The copyrights to projects created during the workshops remain with the Participants, except for the Arri Group – Scriptwriting, Directing and Cinematography Group – “Comedy for Two Actors” under the supervision of Maria Zbąska and Kazimierz Zbąski, in which the participants, together with the group supervisors, jointly prepare visions and cinematography trials (ideas, dialogues, mood boards, storyboards, camera tests, sample scenes for the film to be produced). In this case, the copyrights to the ideas and projects listed above remain with the Group Supervisor, regardless of who proposed or executed them.

  12. In the Mastercard Advertising Film Group, studio projects will be developed on the topic “30 YEARS OF MASTERCARD IN POLAND” according to the brief available at: https://filmspringopen.eu/grupa-dedykowana/grupa-filmu-reklamowego/. The owner of the Mastercard brand may fund a prize for the author(s) of the films that, in the opinion of a jury appointed by them, are the best, the most creative, and best fulfill the assumptions of the Brief, under the rules described in item b) below.

    a) The advertising films produced may not contain offensive, vulgar, illegal content, or content inciting racial, religious, or ethnic hatred, nor content promoting violence, or content commonly considered immoral, offensive, false, misleading, as well as promoting brands competing with Mastercard, or containing trademarks, designations, or references to other entities.

    b) The jury appointed by the owner of the Mastercard brand is entitled to select one or more films created during the Film Spring Open Workshop 2025 in the Advertising Film Group. The author(s) of the selected films will be awarded a prize of PLN 3000 by the owner of the Mastercard brand. Upon payment, pursuant to Article 921 § 3 of the Civil Code, the proprietary copyrights to the film transfer to the owner of the Mastercard brand (without time or territorial limitations and across all fields of exploitation known at the time of payment). To specify additional conditions for the use of the film, the parties will enter into an appropriate agreement.

    c) The Organizer will provide the owner of the Mastercard brand with the contact details of the creators of the selected films for the purpose of possible further discussions. The owner of the Mastercard brand will act as a separate controller of these creators’ personal data.

    d) Agreements between the creators and the owner of the Mastercard brand will be concluded directly between the interested parties. The Foundation will not act as an intermediary in these activities.

  13. Participants grant the Organizer a non-exclusive, free, perpetual, and territorially unlimited license to use film materials created during the Film Spring Open Workshop for promotional purposes in current and future activities of Film Spring Open in the following fields of exploitation:

    • sharing on the website and via the Internet,

    • broadcasting on television and at events organized by the Organizer,

    • copying and transmitting in any manner, in whole or in part, to an unlimited number of users,

    • using in whole or in part for the promotion of subsequent editions of the Film Spring Open Workshop and for the promotion of other activities of the Organizer,

    • placing the created materials in the Archive on the website www.filmspringopen.eu

  14. Participants are obliged to include in the end credits of film materials created during the Film Spring Open Workshop the Film Spring Open Foundation logo. (download)

  15. The Participant consents to the processing of their personal data in accordance with the currently applicable provisions of law on personal data protection, i.e., Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, repealing Directive 95/46/EC (GDPR), as well as the Act of 10 May 2018 on the protection of personal data.   16. Participants of the Film Spring Open Workshop are obliged to read and comply with these regulations. Participants confirm having read the regulations by accepting the conditions during online registration.

  17. In case of non-compliance with these regulations, Participants will be asked to leave the Film Spring Open Workshop.
