Course nr 1 INTRODUCTION TO DIRECTION AND SCENOPRITING

This online course is for all those who want to start their adventure with film or are at an introductory stage and want to broaden their knowledge and learn how to apply it in practice. If you are thinking about screenwriting or directing or are taking your first steps – this course is for you!

It contains a compendium of knowledge concerning, drama and character. You will learn about:

Basic dramaturgical constructions (3 acts vs 12 points of the hero’s journey).
On how to work on the protagonist, how to create and develop them, who the antagonist is and how to make them interesting.
You’ll learn what a ladder is, how to build it, how to braid the different plots.
You will learn what a treatment, synopsis, one-pager, logline, moodboard is and how to create a presentation of your idea and to whom to direct it.
Through practical exercises and working on your own text, you will develop your idea and be one step closer to making your film.
Students are asked to prepare a maximum of a one-page film idea and a maximum of one-page information about themselves.

The director, Aleksandra Terpinska, provides one free place for a person who cannot financially afford to attend the workshop, but would very much like to. Those who would like to apply for such a place are asked to write a short motivation letter about their situation. If there are more applicants – the presenter will choose on the basis of the submitted ideas for the film.
