Tutor: Tomasz Siwiński
Participants will learn the basics of classic 2D cartoon animation through lectures covering such issues as character movement, pacing and drama in animation, key animation, and in-between.
In addition to lectures on specific issues, workshop meetings will take the form of individual talks and group presentations of the participants’ works along with a joint discussions.
Each participant will produce their own short animation of 30 seconds to 1 minute in length. The theme to which participants will refer is transformation, understood as the formal transformation of one object or character into another. The theme should serve as an inspiration to create your own original short story.
Participants will be free to choose software or analog medium (e.g., drawing on paper) with the assumption that it will be a drawing or painting technique. During the lectures, participants will learn selected features of Adobe Animate, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects. The latter program will be used to assemble and export the completed animation and enhance it with additional elements (compositing).
During the workshop we will focus on understanding and proficiently using animation and taking full advantage of its artistic and communicative potential. Software issues will be treated only instrumentally and the scope of knowledge transferred in this area will be tailored to the individual needs of the participants. – says Tomasz Siwiński
