Kids and Family Movies Group
Group tutor: Dorota Kędzierzawska
Dorota Kędzierzawska is a prizewinning director and screenwriter, awarded with the Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis and the Order of Polonia Restituta. For years she has created feature films, many of which feature children. Her filmography includes: Beginning, The End of the World, Devils, Devils, Crows, Nothing, I Am, Time to Die, Tomorrow Will Be Better.
Thanks to the support from the PZU Foundation, you can participate in the Family and Children’s Film Group workshops under the tutelage of Dorota Kędzierzawska, a renowned director experienced in work with children. Narrow expertise in the modern AV world is a necessity and each type of creative work has its own linguistic specificity adjusted to the profile of a potential receiver. That is why knowledge of audience characteristics, and in particular the ability to see the world through the eyes of a child, is so very important in this area. We want to underline that there is a shortage of such projects on the Polish film market. Family films are a niche where one can fight for the audience and find a market position. Our goal is for the participants to gain knowledge of film forms addressed to young viewers: screenwriting, storytelling, casting, work on set, visual and special effects.
We invite every filmmaker interested in the group classes to register and join – DOPs, costume designer, producers as well! Authors interested in analyzing scripts are pleased to send us a four-page children’s film treatment. Fifteen authors will be chosen to participate in a screenwriting workshop during Film Spring Open 2019. Remember everyone can participate as a listener, and non-authors can participate in a scene production.
To enter the competition, send your application with your full name and a film treatment of at least four pages at email@example.com by 15 September 2019. The results will be announced on 2 October 2019 on the Film Spring Open website and social media accounts.
Group workshop plan:
- Project discussion and selection of one best scene to work on
- Shooting the film with children
