Canon Documentary Film Group mentor will be Oscar-nominated director Hanna Polak!

We invite you to join the Canon Documentary Film Group. The group will be run by acclaimed film director and charity worker, Hanna Polak. Her film, “The Children of Leningradsky” was nominated for Oscar.

Encountering on epic style award winning film projects!

Hanna Polak, a documentary film director, producer and cinematographer will share her unique experience of working on her different multilayered epic documentary projects over a course of many years. An emphasis will be put on finding the film’s narrative, creating a character driven and multilayered epic story, facing and solving various challenges along this process. In addition, she will share her own approach to imaginative storytelling and will talk about the process of creating an award winning cinema vérité documentary that the world urgently needs now.

Canon equipment will be available for work in the group, including reportage cameras and photo cameras, as well as a large selection of film and photo lenses. There will also be a hardware surprise!

During the Workshop, there will be a technology class on Canon cameras “Preparing a filmmaker. ABC of the camera assistant” led by Robert Woźniak (Canon Poland).

Hanna Polak: an auteur-director who has an Oscar and Emmy nominations under her belt for “Children of Leningradsky” and the Producer Guild of America nomination for “Something Better To Come”, amongst many other awards and accolades. Her emotional bound with her protagonists allows her to deliver visceral, poetic films that celebrate the power of human spirit and that portray the beauty of humanity in the most adverse circumstances.

Hanna has been advocating for the case of homeless children all over the world and she has been collaborating with different aid agencies, to help unprivileged children. For her charitable efforts, Polak was awarded Golden Heart Award in Russia, “for serving the uppermost ideals of mankind” and the Crystal Mirror award by “The Mirror” magazine in Poland, an award that recognizes “people of dialogue, those who unite, not divide.”
