Film production – online course – Agata Szymańska, Magdalena Kamińska (Balapolis)

We would like to invite you to a unique online course for those interested in practical training in film production taught by successful, talented producers Agata Szymańska and Magdalena Kamińska, who will share their experiences.

COURSE SCHEDULE


FIRST MEETING: 2 blocks of 3 h each

1. About the producer

a) Introduction of the participants

b) Who is a producer ( types of studios courses in Poland)

c) How to start – answer the question about your interests in cinema

d) What kind of cinema we want to make

2. How to make a film

a) We choose an idea for the film everyone is talking about / the purpose of the presentation

b) What should be in the presentation

c) Film financing in Poland

d) Company

SECOND MEETING: 2 blocks of 3 h each

1. Production

a) Developemnt

b) Photography

c) Post

 

2. What happens to the film after production

a) Theatrical distribution

b) VOD

c) Promotion

d) Festivals

THIRD MEETING (2 blocks of 2 h)

1. Preparation of the presentation – discussion

a) Discussion of the film presentation

2. The Gallup Test

a) Overview of the Test. (Participants are additionally asked to take a Gallup test before the course, which is a tool to help assess aptitude for the profession. The results of the tests will be discussed in the last class of the course, to which a trainer will be invited to help interpret the results.)

Agata Szymańska – Graduate of the Krzysztof Kieślowski University of Silesia’s Radio and Television Faculty of Film and Television Production in Silesia, co-founder of Balapolis, where she produces feature films and documentaries together with Magdalena Kamińska, as well as international co-productions such as: “Baby Bump”, “Werewolf” or “Hamlet Syndrome”.

Magdalena Kamińska, film producer, co-founder of the company Balapolis.

She produces feature films, international, majority and minority co-productions, feature series. She has participated in workshops such as EAVE Producers 2017 and is a finalist in the College-Cinema Biennial programme. 2015. awarded by KIPA for creative courage at the OFF Camera festival for “Baby Bump”  directed by Kuba Czekaj, which received the Queer Lion Award at the Venice IFF. Produced by her, the film Werewolf, directed by Adrian Panek, was made as a Polish-German-Dutch co-production.

Awarded for directing and music at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, as well as the ecumenical jury and audience awards at POFF Black Tallinn FF 2018. The documentary film Hamlet Syndrome, directed by Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosołowski, won the Grand Prix Semaine de la critique in Locarno. She is currently working on further feature films including (http://m.in). Biala Odwaga directed by Marcin Koszałka, a film entitled Simona Kossak directed by Adrian Panek and an international co-production The Hunter’s Son directed by Ricky Rijneke.
