Arri Close up with Magnus von Horn and Michał Dymek

Recognized director Magnus von Horn and cinematographer Michał Dymek – responsible, among others for the photos of Jerzy Skolimowski’s “EO” will conduct classes within the Arri-Close up. The visual dramaturgy of character-driven movies.

The participants of the group will have the opportunity to learn the secrets of the newest ARRI film camera, the ALEXA 35. The lecturers will conduct experiments with images and photos in black and white.

Magnus von Horn was born in 1983 in Göteborg, Sweden. In 2004 he started his studies at the Film Directing Department of the Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School (PWSFTViT) in Lodz, Poland, where he completed the MA studies. He has written and directed several short films including “Echo” (2009) that received numerous international awards and premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. Magnus’s diploma film, “Without Snow”, premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2011 and was nominated for the Swedish Guldbaggen awards for best short film.

In 2015 Magnus completed his debut feature film, “The Here After”, which had its world premier at the Cannes Film Festival in the Director’s Fortnight section. His second film “Sweat” qualified for the official selection of Cannes 2020 and won the Silver Lions at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.

Michał Dymek is an award winning cinematographer and graduate from the Polish National Film School in Łódź. He is a member of Polish Society of Cinematogrsphers (PSC). His films have been screened at numerous film festivals all around the world including the Cannes Film Festival, Sundance and Camerimage.

His latest work – an international co-production “EO”, directed by legendary polish director – Jerzy Skolimowski – was in official selection of Cannes FIlm Festival 2022 and won a Cannes Jury Award. He also participated in an Irish production “Wolf”, directed by Nathalie Biancheri – starring George MacKa, Paddy Considine and Lily-Rose Depp.
